About the Book

With his second cookbook, Ohana Style (Clarkson Potter | March 31, 2026 | $X | Hardcover), chef Sheldon Simeon invites readers back into his kitchen with more than 100 vibrant, unfussy recipes that celebrate the layered food traditions of Hawai‘i while embracing the rhythms of everyday life.

For Simeon, ohana goes far beyond family. It includes friends, neighbors, coworkers, and the broader community who create a sense of belonging. That spirit runs through every page of Ohana Style.

Inspired by the pandemic years of cooking daily meals for his wife and four children while also feeding his extended restaurant family, Simeon reimagines what it means to cook as both a professional chef and a dad at the dinner table. The result is a collection of dishes that are simple but deeply flavorful — designed for weeknight dinners, casual gatherings, and joyful celebrations.

Building on the success of his bestselling debut Cook Real Hawai‘i, Simeon’s cooking reflects the diverse influences of his home: Native Hawaiian, Filipino, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, and more. Here, he leans into a playful “small kine homemade” philosophy — a use-what-you-have approach inspired by his father.

Expect creative twists and bold flavors, from Pork Belly Tocino with garlic rice and Lechon Liempo to Lemon-Caper MahiFiery Feta Cream, and Filipino Spaghetti Bake.

But Ohana Style is more than a cookbook. It’s a reflection on community, resilience, and the importance of passing food traditions forward — especially in the wake of the 2023 Lahaina wildfires that deeply impacted Simeon’s Maui community.

Warm, generous, and full of heart, Ohana Style is a love letter to Hawai‘i’s culinary mosaic and an invitation to cook for — and with — your own ohana.
